Meet Our Leadership Team

Good News Ministries' leadership team has a heart for leading the flock.  We are striving to take the callings from God to their fullest abilities.  Colossians 4:17 NLT says:  “...Be sure to carry out the ministry the Lord gave you." Our leadership team has the desire to take the Gospel outside of the church walls along with the willingness to serve God, love people and make disciples.

Rev. Wanda Myers

Senior Pastor

Wanda Myers is an ordained minister in the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Conference.  Associated with the IPHC located in Oklahoma.  Married to Rev. Larry Myers and they have 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grand children.  She has worked as an Associate Pastor with her husband for 39 years as they have pastored 3 churches.  She is a multi-talented musician and singer.  Pastor Wanda was elected as the first woman in 100 years to serve on the Executive Council as a board member of the Appalachian Conference in Dublin, VA in 2011 and was re-elected in 2018.  She also served as Conference Woman Ministries Director for 12 years.

Pastor Wanda is retired from banking with over 28 years experience and 15 years in the branch environment.  The last 13 years she has worked for BB&T University and was a Vice-President Senior Management Consultant.  She was a Certified University Instructor with a Process Master Certification.  She conducts performance skill-based coaching virtually.  In 2011 she became a Certified Coach with the John Maxwell Team and enjoys Leadership Training for church staff. 

Rev. Larry Myers

Associate Pastor

Larry Myers is an ordained minister in the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Conference, associated with the IPHC located in Oklahoma.  He felt his call to preach in his early teens and began to evangelize.  God has anointed him to play several instruments and he's also a songwriter.  After evangelizing for several years, he had an opportunity to shepherd a small congregation in McGhayesville, VA where he learned the fundamentals of pastoring.  After his first wife passed away, he and his five children still evangelized and the Lord helped them through this difficult time.  Later the Lord brought Pastor Wanda into his life and they have one son together making a total of six children,  eleven grandchildren  and sixteen great-grand children.  In the past 39 years they have pastored 3 different churches together serving the Lord with all their heart. 

Todd & Ashley Shifflett

Worship & Youth Pastors

Todd was born and raised in Elkton, Virginia.  He started learning the drums at an early age which lead to his love for music.  Ashley was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where her love for singing took heart.  After graduating high school Todd continued his passion for music by accompanying numerous southern gospel artist across the country.  Ashley continued her passion for singing through out high school where in 2000 she won the Kings Dominions Vocalist of the Year.  In 2007 she won the Rockingham County Gospel Music Competition in Rockingham County, Virginia and had many ministerial opportunities  such as being a Youth Leader, a Sunday School Teacher and even started writing her own music with her mother.

 

Finally Todd & Ashley’s path crossed and they married.  They began to travel up and down the East Coast evangelizing and reaching the lost through Word and song.  In 2011, Ashley released her first album called “Living Proof.”  In 2012, Ashley’s second album was released entitled “The God of My Battles.” In 2014, Ashley won the Female Christian Horizons Award with the Christian Voice Magazine from Alabama.  They have 2 children, in which they are very proud of.  Todd and Ashley are currently   attending  Maranatha College and have received  their local ministers licences with the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Conference in Dublin, VA associated with the IPHC in Oklahoma.
